Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) has exported the KEPCO-Smart Energy Management System (K-SEMS) to the Dominican Republic.

KEPCO announced on June 17 that it has signed an agreement with PUCMM University, ESD, and J&D Electronics on establishing the smart energy management system at PUCMM University.

The K-SEMS is KEPCO's integrated energy control technology that increases efficiency and reduces cost by creating an optimal energy mix by collecting, analyzing and controlling in real time information on customers' use of energy such as electricity, gas and heat.

Under the MOU, KEPCO will work with Korean electronic control equipment manufacturer J&D Electronics to build the K-SEMS in PUCMM University and ESD, a local electric service and construction company operated by a Korean resident in the Dominican Republic.

When PUCMM University and ESD build energy-efficient facilities such as light emitting diodes (LEDs) and energy storage systems (ESSs) in their own buildings, KEPCO will provide the K-SEMS solutions. J&D Electronics will be responsible for the delivery and construction of measurement equipment. Vasco ICT will be in charge of building the K-SEMS.

KEPCO expects that the K-SEMS will help PUCMM University and ESD cut energy costs as well as manage power loads in the Dominican Republic.
